At GP:50, we value our employees, and so in an effort to express that, we extended an invitation to the women in our organization to share their experiences in the field of technology. We now invite you to that behind the scenes look with our “Women in the Workforce” spotlight series.
Our second spotlight focuses on Shasta Johnson, an Expeditor coming up on her one year work anniversary with GP:50.
Before Shasta joined the GP:50 team, she worked in the food industry for 15 years. Needing to find a job that would be a better fit for her and her family, she made it her priority to find a company that could provide her with a steady schedule. In her work at GP:50, Shasta confirms all purchase orders on a day-to-day basis, making sure they have been placed and checking on any delivery or pricing issues. She made note of her upcoming one-year anniversary with us in May, and expressed that she is incredibly thankful, “GP:50 provides a work environment in which I feel comfortable and confident in my abilities. I feel very valued here!”
When asked what advice she’d give women trying to break into the technology field, Shasta answered, “A lot of women question if
they’re fit for positions in the technology field, but you just have to follow your dreams!” She believes confidence is key when trying to break into a field that’s typically known to be a male-dominant industry. “Show people you are the best at your job, and they won’t question your abilities. Keep your eyes forward and strive for what you want. Never give up!”
When asked which women in the office inspire her, she replied that our HR Generalist, Kelly Dombrowski, is her biggest inspiration. “She always motivates me in my most stressful times. She helps to keep my mind on the tasks at hand!”
