Job Position: Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

Key Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assess and analyze current manufacturing processes.
•Assist in creation of work processes and other manufacturing related needs.
•Trouble shoot product issues in process.
•Assist engineering with new product development testing.
•Develop and analyze manufacturing procedures/ routers.
•Devise and implement cost saving measures.
•Design and/or fabricate test fixturing and implement new equipment.
•Repair or replace malfunctioning equipment if required.
•Educate, train, and guide new employees on current manufacturing and workflow processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related engineering field preferred. Or 2 yr tech degree with 3-5 years manufacturing experience required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1.Computer proficient; confident using data analysis programs and Microsoft Suite.
2.Experience using CAD (computer aided design).
3.Ability to communicate with courtesy and tact both verbally and in writing.
4.Handle multiple tasks with speed and accuracy.
5.Ability to proofread and catch entry errors.
6.Paper filing of orders per company procedures.
7.Master problem solver, familiar with root cause analysis techniques.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
•Office equipment: personal computer; calculator, copier/printer, fax machine and telephone.
•Various electronic test equipment such as multimeters, power supply, physical measure tools such as calipers and micrometers, and various manufacturing equipment such as pressure controllers, environmental chambers, and other test equipment
•Various GP:50 custom and purchased software programs.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1.Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a production/technical nature.
2.Ability to lift weight up to a maximum of 75 pounds.
3.Ability to stand and/or walk for approximately 6 hours per day.
4.Ability to sit at a desk for approximately 2 hours a day.
5.Ability to kneel, crouch, stoop, bend, and reach.
6.Manual dexterity to manipulate and inspect small parts.
7.Must have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
1.Able to do math calculations.
2.Able to prioritize, organize, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
3.Able to communicate in a professional manner when providing verbal feedback.
4.Able to take and implement technical directions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Well-lit, heated, and air-conditioned indoor office/production environment with adequate ventilation.
